West Cape Howe Book Ends Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 was awarded 94 points by James Halliday Wine Companion.
A lovely bouquet of dense dark berry fruits aromas such as ripe blackberry and blackcurrant with some dark plum characters along with a complexing hint of black olives and an attractive lift of violets.
The palate offers the berry fruit flavours so typical of Cabernet along with its great tannin structure. It has red berry fruits, ‘bramble’ berry and blackcurrant/cassis flavours along with a hint of earthiness; there’s also some light dusty characters from its period of oak maturation to add to its complexity.
There’s a dark chocolate character and those drying, quite chewy tannins that contribute to its great persistence and palate length and will ensure it ages well.
