Pooley Butchers Hill Chardonnay has awarded as a 5 star winery rated by James Halliday Wine Companion.
Power-packed Tasmanian Chardonnay from a seriously impressive winemaking pair, taking this great producer to new levels.
Hand picked, whole bunched pressed to tank. Cold settled for 1 day then racked to barrel. 100% barrel ferment. Mixture of puncheons (500 litre) and barriques (225 litre). 40% new oak. No stirring. Malolactic 75% complete. Maturation for 9 months in barrel.
Aromas of overt corrella pear with hazelnut kernel. Lime zest and hints of nectarine. Lime zest carries through to the palate. Textural pithiness. Fresh and vibrant with great drive and tension offset but mouthfilling flavours of stonefruit.
